Welcome to my blog. For years I’ve wanted to write a blog featuring interiors but only now do I feel like I can finally showcase my style, so here goes….
I’m a first time buyer in my forties! I’m sure there are many of us out there, after years of renting and restrictions on what I could do in my home I’m finally there. I have to say this was super exciting but also really daunting. What if I made a bad choice, chose the wrong colour, picked the wrong flooring or kitchen, the list goes on! After several wobbles, decisions were made and thank goodness we loved them. I’ve gone for a modern classic feel and just picked things that I absolutely love with a mix of old and new. I feel our house (Which is a new build by the way) has our style stamped on it already even though there is still so much to do.
Our biggest success so far is our flooring downstairs, it’s a LVT parquet flooring (polyflor Ltd) laid in individual tiles. I’ve had so many complimentary comments about it and the colour is just perfect.
Also our gorgeous farmhouse table from Made in the Cellar, we had this painting in Farrow and Ball strong white.
I love the classic frontage of our house, it’s a David Wilson Hadley new build but I feel like it has lots of character. Especially now we’ve installed shutters, another thing I’ve always wanted. The layout is a three bed with an ensuite and bathroom upstairs, downstairs is a decent size lounge, cloakroom and kitchen/family room. I always wanted a house with a family room and really feel that we have achieved it with clever choices of furniture. I’m still astounded at how much bigger our house feels now from all the site visits pre completion, it feels like the more we put into it the bigger it gets!
As you can see, I’ve made quite a few changes in the kitchen from the original one we had on completion day but that’s another whole post.
Our home is far from finished and there is still a lot of painting to do, as well as our bedroom and the spare bedroom. The lounge is coming on nicely but I feel our old furniture is clashing with our new sofa and chair! This will have to wait though for now as it’s far from a priority.
This is just a little taster of my home and a bit of an insight into my style, I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing some of the things we’ve done so far and I’m looking forward to sharing some more.
