I’ve been building up to the time when Theo starts school and although this is such a wonderful time for him, I will miss him dreadfully. For the past 4 years it’s mainly just been me and Theo during the day keeping ourselves busy with lots of mini adventures, see here; @maisonmereterre.
But alas all good things must come to an end! I didn’t return to work when my maternity leave was up, mainly because it made no sense financially! After childcare costs I wouldn’t have been any better off. So we made the decision I would stay at home. Now things will be changing I wanted to do something that will give me flexibility to work around the school run, and still give me time to focus on photography another passion of mine.
So I’ve embarked on creating my own shop and selling platform on Etsy Maison des Lesage .
This all came about from being a committee member of Theo’s Pre-school and being part of the team organising our annual Christmas Fayre. I’ve always been creative and was suddenly spurred on to create something I could sell at the Fayre. Initially this was my main goal to make a bit of extra cash before Christmas, but soon after the Fayre I was contacted by some of my customers for some custom orders.
I’ve been making Pom Pom wreaths, garlands, key rings and baskets. I also made lots of Christmas decorations for the Fayre.
This week I launched my shop on Etsy and have had one sale so far, which I’m really pleased with. I’ve also got requests for custom orders from local friends.
It’s early days and I’m certainly not expecting to be the next big thing but I’m happy making Pom Poms and who knows where it will lead!
Please pop over and visit my little shop, I will have some more stock arriving soon and welcome any suggestions too.
